Tell us what makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider. I find long-term, longitudinal relationships with families I care for thoroughly fulfilling. For example - It was so rewarding to be entrusted to be a PCP for four generations of a family for over a decade. We get a unique opportunity that no other job will offer - to be a part of their life and challenges over several years. We should enable patients to be equal partners in their care by diligently listening to them, actively engaging them through motivation, and empowering them to take charge of their well-being. In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs? I believe in the classic ‘whole person approach,’ having worked full spectrum family medicine in a primary care clinic, convenient care setting, as a hospitalist, and in a rehab / skilled nursing facility setting. The importance of health maintenance cannot be over-emphasized. As a PCP, I would also like to stress the need for regular clinic visits and being proactive with your needs. Health care is getting complicated and overwhelming, especially for the younger generation. Patients need a trusted advocate to help them decide what’s best for them. And then continue to be there all along the way to help break down jargon and explain the nuances of their unique situation in simple terms. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time? During our free time, our world revolves around our kids. I do like reading non-fiction and following sports.
