What excites Akosua most about being a healthcare provider is teaching patients about their health in a way that gives them ownership of their care. She believes that when patients are informed and involved in their decisions, they become more motivated to follow through with treatment. Helping patients gain that confidence and control is the most rewarding part of her work. Akosua believes the role of a primary care provider is to meet patients where they are, addressing both their physical and behavioral health needs with compassion and understanding. Her responsibility is not only to diagnose and treat but also to ask meaningful questions that reinforce their understanding, clarify misconceptions, and ensure they feel heard. By engaging patients in this way, she aims to empower them to take ownership of their health, make informed decisions, and build confidence in managing their overall well-being. Akosua has been a Physician Assistant for almost 20 years, and she truly enjoys the privilege of caring for patients and their families. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her children, traveling, and experiencing the world through their eyes, which keeps her curious and grounded.
